Artist Satement

I was born in a small village on the west coast of Newfoundland and grew up in a blue-collar mining family in Sudbury Ontario. Working-class ideals gleaned from such an upbringing helped formed me. An argument with a co-worker in 2009, concerning the origin of Abiotic Oil set me on a path of self-realization and expression.

THINKING TOTESTERONE is a series of large-scale paintings, narrative in nature. At first glance, seemingly unrelated objects are melded together to create a scene that engages the viewer. Further reflection reveals hidden truths found in politics, science, arts and humanities, business. These hidden truths make my brain squirm.

The works are executed in oil applied to large rough canvas, using brushes, palette knives, rags and fingers. I am still searching for the perfect easel.
